A Chorus Line: Home Edition

*** Dreamt April 11-12, 2010 ***

At the beginning of my dream I was talking to Wolfgang Petersen - the director of the film "The Neverending Story". He was telling me about the filming of "The Neverending Story" and how he built up a camaraderie among the cast members and was showing some film he shot of Barret Oliver and Tami Stronach at a park one day, sitting under a tree, laughing and talking.

Suddenly everything changed.

A bunch of my friends and I were performing the musical "A Chorus Line" in the basement of my parents' house. It really wasn't much a show, per se. It really was just a bunch of us sitting around, doing "A Chorus Line" karaoke while a bunch of people sat around and listened to us. I was incredibly impatient as I waited for my big number to come up.

Suddenly it was my turn. I took the microphone and prepared as my song started. ...It was "Dance 10 Looks 3". Now, anybody who knows anything about "A Chorus Line" knows that this song doesn't even make SENSE sung by a dude, but for some reason that was what I was performing. Unfortunately despite my impatience to perform, I'd neglected learning any of my lines, so I was just sort-of mumbling along with it.

Then the karaoke started to get all choppy and quiet. After a few moments we realized what was happening...the Artificial Intelligence unit living in the computer we were using for a karaoke machine was angry that her favorite human wasn't interacting with her. It was pretty annoying, although it really saved me from my horrible performance.

We found the person that the A.I. unit wanted and settled it down. Then we continued the show with another guy singing "No One Fears The Wicked" (from the musical "Wicked") but to the music of some song from "A Chorus Line". For this song, though, the karaoke still wasn't working, so I had to grab my roll-out electric piano and accompany him.

At some point during the number I started to become more lucid and I realized that this song was from the wrong show, and I realized that I don't know how to even play that song...

Then I woke up.
